Cottage Lane bread is handcrafted from the very best local and imported ingredients in the beautiful Wairarapa.  Each loaf is crafted using their famous starter and then slow-fermented for 72 hours before being stone-baked to perfection, creating a thick golden crust and pillowy centre.

 

This sourdough batard is par-baked, so either re-freeze for use at a later date or bake as follows:

 

  • Preheat oven to 180 ° and bake on a rack until golden - approx 20-23 minutes depending on your oven.

To find a truly authentic sourdough bug, Cottage Lane went all the way to San Francisco - the capital of the ‘sourdough renaissance’—to source a strain from a family-run bakery dating back to the 1800s. This beloved starter just celebrated its 80th birthday and is fed daily by the team!
